Parish of the council of Oviedo crossed by the Camino de Santiago. It is located to the south of the capital, in a topographically elevated position with respect to it.
The name of La Manjoya is related to the expression of joy that the French pilgrims would pronounce when they contemplated the cathedral of Oviedo in the distance for the first time. This expression “Mon Joi” (My joy) is related to the origin of another key place in the topography of pilgrimages, Monte do Gozo near Compostela.
