The Original Way

Stage 6: Salas - Bourres

This stage responds to a proposal to carry out the Camino Primitivo if the variant of Los Hospitales is taken, between the councils of Tinéu and Allande, then dividing the route into two sections, this one between Salas and Bourres and the next one between this town and Berducedo continuing the Camino for a single route between Berducedo and the border with Galicia, in the Alto del Acebo.

The route included in this stage is described in the chapters dedicated to the Salas-Tinéu and Tinéu-Pola de Allande stages.

It includes a route of 32 kilometers, through the councils of Salas and Tinéu. The itinerary maintains a clearly ascending profile from the exit of the town of Salas to the top of La Espina, on the border of the two municipalities. From here, it becomes more stable, again producing a significant but shorter ascent from the town of Tinéu to the top of Piedrafita, from which a gentle descent begins to the town of Bourres, the end of the stage. . In Bourres the existence of the first pilgrims’ hostel on the Camino de Santiago is documented, in the year 893 ??, having recovered in the 1990s the hospitable tradition of this town thanks to a hostel located in the old schools.

More than half of the itinerary of this stage (around 14 kilometers) runs along dirt and gravel tracks), while the asphalt surface is present in just over 10 kilometers.
