Town and capital of the council of Vegadeo, with just over 3000 inhabitants. It is located in a marsh, 10 meters above sea level, where a large number of streams converge as well as the Suarón River and the Eo, which has now become an estuary and acts as a natural dividing line between Galicia and Asturias. It is an important communications hub, due to the exit to the sea through the estuary. The urban nucleus treasures an interesting cultural heritage, highlighting the Villamil house, today the house of culture, the parish temple, from the mid-twentieth century, and the Medal park.
