El Escamplero

Place of the parish of Valsera, located in a communications junction, where several regional roads converge. It has less than 200 inhabitants today.
In El Escamplero there was a pilgrims’ hospital at the end of the 14th century, promoted by Rodrigo Alfonso (to whom King Enrique III granted the privilege of making this foundation, in payment of the support he had given during the noble revolts of the end of that century. century). This center was in operation for an unknown period of time, although it is known that in the 18th century it was no longer in use, having been replaced in its functions of assistance to pilgrims by a roadside sale that will be cited by the illustrated Asturian Jovellanos.
