Oubona

The Primitive Way does not go into the town of Oubona, although it will be possible to see from it excellent panoramic views of this town so closely linked to the development of the Santa María monastery.

The population is located at 720 meters of altitude, not reaching a hundred inhabitants.

In 1222, the monarch Alfonso IX ordered a detour from the Camino de Santiago to force pilgrims to pass through the monastery, which, like practically all monasteries, had spaces for attending pilgrims. In the documentation from the 18th century, there are alludes to the existence of up to three guesthouses in the monastery, in the west wing of its facilities.
